What is Feau’s?
For our group of friends, it's the premier early autumn gravel ride through the Ottawa valley. It embraces the local coffee and craft beer culture that we know and love.
Our Feau’s route largely takes place on light gravel roads, with asphalt of varying quality sprinkled in. The route has been done on 25c tires, but 30-35c are recommended for rider safety and comfort.
This is an unsupported and unsanctioned ride. All roads are open to vehicular traffic and the public at large. Anyone riding this route as a group or individually does so at their own risk and acknowledges the inherent risks associated with cycling.
Feau’s has five planned stops over 137 km - Eldon’s Pantry in Carp, Equator Coffee in Almonte, Braumeister Brewing Co. in Carleton Place, Ashton Brewing Company in Ashton, and Kichesippi Beer Co. in Bells Corners. All stops accept contactless credit cards as methods of payment.
Our expected pace for Feau’s is approximately 27km/h. There are some specific sections of the route to pay special attention to. Please read about them here.
Note - there are no gas stations or coffee shops for the approximate 40km gravel stretch between Almonte and Carleton Place. Make sure you have enough water, food, and supplies for this portion of the route. If you're desperate, plan a detour at kilometre 73 and head north on Tatlock Road to visit the Clayton General Store (cash or cards required).
Feau’s shortcut and fries offers a bit of a shortcut.
Feau’s 🍞 is the bailout option. If you’ve bitten off more than you can chew after you get to Almonte (hey, it happens!), you can take this route from Almonte and enjoy the relaxing Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail before meeting up with the group at Braumeister, and finishing the ride down the Trans Canada Trail.
When is Feau’s?
The Feau’s Grand Départ takes place at 9:00am on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Coffee and croissants are available from 8:15 am.
The first stop of Feau’s A is at Eldon’s Pantry, which will be approximately kilometre 25 and around 10am. The next coffee stop, and first of Feau’s B, will be in Almonte at Equator Coffee around 11:15am. Our first brewery stop is at Braumeister at where we expect to arrive around 2pm.
Is there a jersey?
Of course there is! Details to come. Last year's custom jersey can be seen here. was inspired by the colours of the autumn trees that we enjoy during our ride.
To place a jersey order, please find your size from the Jakroo website and stay tuned.
Pricing is expected to be about $110 each, taxes and shipping included.
Parking for Feau's
There is plenty of street parking available on nearby streets, or schools close by.
Either way, please plan ahead in case you decide to have a beer. Cars are welcome to be left overnight, ride shares typically take bikes these days, and I’m happy to help coordinate vehicle returns on Sunday. Be smart and be safe!
