Feau's A Route Description - Particular Sections to be Aware of
Please pay extra attention to the ~2 kilometre section of the TCT between Timm Dr through to Corkstown road. The gravel here has washed out in sections, leaving several areas of concern if you're not paying attention.
The first planned stop is at Eldon's Pantry at kilometre 25. Bike parking is typically available on both sides of the building, and at the rear.
The Carp Fair will also be going on that day, so please be considerate of where you leave your bike.
The easiest way to get to Equator is to go straight from Houston Drive into the parking lot for Your Independent Grocer. Please be aware of pedestrians and vehicles as you make your way through this busy area!
Bike racks are available on the LEFT side of Equator. Equator is another busy spot, so please be aware of where you leave your bikes and be considerate of other customers.
Leaving Equator, we proceed down Ottawa St which is a very busy road. Please ensure, as always, you are obeying all traffic laws and are extra careful while going through Almonte.
Feau's A - there are no planned food or water stops for the next ~40km of gravel. Ensure you are prepared and well stocked at this point.
Leaving Carleton Place, we have traditionally taken the TCT to Ashton Station Road. As part of the route recon, it was discovered that this part of the trail has had new gravel dumped on top and it is not recommended for riding.
As a result, the route recommends taking Cavanaugh Road to Ashton Station Road. This is a fairly quiet road, but can be fast. Once again, please ensure you're paying attention to all traffic rules and communicating with any riders in your group.
